Where is Baseball!

I have spent most of the morning arguing Football, the Patriots verses the Giants.  Of course I believe the Pats are going to win, they have not lost a game this season, why should they lose the Super Bowl?  My Company is located in Massachusetts, but we own a lot of other companies in Ct. RI. and New York.  Ct. and RI have never been much of a problem.  We converted them over to the Red Sox right away.  But New York, nothing but trouble.  They keep posting Giant photos on our web pages.

After a morning of putting up with that, we had to retaliate.  We sent pictures of the Patriots.  After talking to one of our managers he finally gave up on the Giants, but started in on the Mets getting Santana. And the world Series being held in New York this year. Well I couldn't let that go, so now I have a $50. bet out there that the Red Sox make it to the Series and the Yankees don't.

Boy do I need some real baseball.

THANK GOD THAT'S OVER!

Coco hit just .268 in 145 games this season, but he was nothing short of spectacular in the field; Boston pitchers sang his praises as he dove and sprawled to make highlight-reel catches. He was replaced by Ellsbury in the playoffs after his bat ran cold (.143 vs. Cleveland), and he looks to be the odd man out in the outfield.(photo from Boston.com)

Well it looks like Coco is safe for the time being.  Santana, if you didn't already know, appears to be signing with the Mets.  That's not a bad thing.  The Mets have always been my favorite National League Team.  And I love Coco.  His smile, his spirit. I think he's good for the team.

I also don't think he will be with us for long.  Maybe not even through spring training, but he is ours for now.

a couple of weeks and the equipment truck leaves Boston, then it's time for Spring Training!!  (photo from photostore/mlb.com)

SAD

I was looking through all the local papers and a few inter net sites hoping to find something interesting going on in the world of Baseball.  But there isn't really much going on.  We picked up a relief pitcher, David Aardsma. And I also heard Trot Nixon is a free agent. It would be nice to have Trot back.

But none of that is very newsworthy and my mind keeps going back to the article I read in Boston.com about Bob Ryans son Keith.

Bob Ryan is a pretty well know sportswriter for Boston and it appears his son Keith committed suicide yesterday in Islamabad. As a mother and Grandmother I just can't grasp such a terrible thing.

Mr Ryan was a U.S. Attache` for U.S. Customs in Pakistan.  Is Islamabad in Pakistan?  I had never even heard of Islamabad.  But now I have.

My heart and prayers go out to the Ryan family.  Such a tragic thing to happen.  And for it to be half way around the world must be such a feeling of helplessness.

Rest in Peace Keith

Good Luck, Pats!!

Tedy Bruschi cheered with fans during the New England Patriots Super Bowl send-off. 'This never gets old for us,' Bruschi said. I very rarely write about the Patriots.  For that matter I very rarely watch the Patriots. But next Sunday we will be in the Super Bowl again.  I think that calls for a little "Woo Hoo"!  And if they win ( come on of course they're going to win) it will be 19 in a row!  A season with no losses.  A record breaking season!!

I am in 6 office pools.  Maybe I will win something. :)

Picture of Tedy Bruschi from Boston.com (and a beautiful picture it is!)  Let's go Pat's!!!

Just think 2 and a half weeks and the Pitchers and Catchers will be in Florida. (can't wait)

Thank God it's Friday

It's been a really long week.  4 more hours I can go home and just veg out.  In the meantime here are a few pictures I borrowed from Kelly O'Connor, while checking out her blog 030407_2294030707_4250

Thanks Kelly, great shots as usual!!!

JAPAN

I am still not so crazy about the Red Sox playing in Japan, but I do have a lot of respect for Larry and if he thinks it's a good thing than I guess it is.

I just think it is going to extend the time before we get to watch any real baseball here.photo

I like Larry Lucchino, a friend of the family works for him, and has nothing but good things to say about him.

Technical Difficulties

I started this post about 2 hours ago but MLBlogs seemed to be having a problem and I couldn't sign on.  Of course now I have lost what ever thoughts I had then.

I figure another picture of Mike is good enough!  Don't know what he is drinking but it looks like something I would enjoy.

Spring Training has to be getting close.

Favorites!

Tony Conigliaro Boston Red Sox Photos - Boston Nightclub NewsTony always my favorite!Boston Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell, winner of the Thomas A. Yawkey Red Sox MVP Award/Tommy McCarthy Good Guy Award, listens to a question prior to the 69th Boston Baseball Writers' Banquet in Boston, Thursday Jan. 17, 2008. Lowell is willing to give blood if that's what it takes to be tested for human growth hormone. But only if the test is 100 percent accurate. Not 99 percent. Mike my #2

Javier, so glad to hear he signed.  I met him at a Charity thing last season and was very impressed at how nice he was.  Not bad to look at either.

18 in a row!

Congratulations Patriots!  We're going to the Super Bowl!

I'm not much of a football fan, but, 18 wins in a row and another trip to the Super Bowl.  It doesn't get much sweeter than this.

Tedy Bruschi yelled in celebration after the Patriots defeated the Chargers 21-12 to win the AFC Championship and a trip to Super Bowl XLII.(photo from boston.com)

Ever since my granddaughter could talk she knew who Tedy Bruschi was, who he played for and that her Aunt, Mother and Grandmother loved him.  Lucky today is a holiday for some people. She stayed up and watched the games with everyone else.  Just 2 weeks to Super Bowl, and then thank God, Spring Training!

Baseball Writers Association Awards

Lowell living large

This picture was not from the Awards last night, but I liked it. (photo from boston.com)

Of course Mike was there, being the World Series MVP.

I have seen a few pictures of Mike from last night, a little chick attended the Awards and took some pictures.  Mike really looks good in a tux!  Okay, Mike always looks good.

Mike says in the Globe today that the Santana deal is about a 7 right now.  Not too shabby, sounds like we still have a chance.  He also said " Who wouldn't want Beckett and Santana as your number 1 and 2 starting picture?"  I say make the deal and get it over with before Spring Training.

Mike is also quoted as saying " Beckett has invited him to go hunting in Texas." Mike had to decline, said his wife looks at it like killing Bambi.  Pretty smart wife he has there.

Spring Training can't get here fast enough for me!

Japan

(photo from bostonherald.com)

Whose idea was it to start the season in Japan?? The first 2 games are March 25 and 26th, which just happen to be a Tuesday and Wednesday.  They also start at 6:00a.m. est. I don't know about the rest of you, but I will be at work.  And that time of the morning is so busy I won't have time to listen to the game.

Okajima is very happy about starting in Japan, I hope everyone is.  I also hope the Jet lag does not interfere! I know after a flight to the west coast the team is tired.  How are they going to handle flying to Japan and playing a couple of games?

Haven't read anything on how Dice K feels starting in Japan.

Okay so they are all of the same person, nothing wrong with that!

I know the pitchers and catchers meet in less than 30 days.  That means spring training is just around the corner.  I really can't wait!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Doug MirabelliSee this picture? It is the first thing this week to really make me smile.  I have a terrible head cold and horrible project at work, so of course work won out and I have been putting in long hours to the point where I can't even think straight.

Then this morning, I open Boston.com and there is a picture of Dougie.  The sox are going to sign him for another year.  Less money + incentives.  Dougie is fine with that.  I am probable one of the few people who really care whether or not Doug plays for the Red Sox, but he has always been a personal favorite, so, I may just have a good day today!

If you think the Red Sox should, could you click on Fansonthefield.net and sign a petition to retire Jim Rice's number. Thanks

Noni

SO DISAPPOINTED

It's just not fair. That's all I have to say about it, this should have been Jim Ed's year.Rice (right) was turned away despite having three things going for him this year: 1. His vote total had been north of 60 percent in recent years and Sox historian **** Bresciani boosted Rice's candidacy with a convincing public relations campaign; 2. The more we talk about steroids, the better Rice's numbers look; 3. There were no new candidates to overwhelm the voters.

Congratulations to Rich Gossage, he did finally make it.

Someone has to tell Roger to stop giving interviews.  He looks so bad every time he opens his mouth.  Yesterday he didn't give a "Rat's A**" about the Hall of Fame.  Well some day those words may come back to bite him in the A**!

IS ROGER GUILTY?

A long, star-studded drug roster

I have to say I really don't care if he is guilty.  Do I think he is? Yes I do. But I am not saying that for any reason except that I watched 60 Minutes Sunday evening and he looked so guilty, denying his guilt, over and over. Not angry like I thought he would be.

I think if your not guilty and someone accuses you of something so life altering, you get angry.  Then you get a lawyer, and Then you start legal procedures.  You do anything you can to clear your name.  Short of going on 60 Minutes and looking guilty.

One of my biggest disappointments of the whole mess is Andy Pettite, but at least he was man enough to admit it was true.

Good Luck to Jim Rice today!

JIM RICE

Before voting a few years ago, Rice said he wasn't getting his hopes up. 'I thank **** Bresciani for the statistical package he put together of my career that I know has gone out to the voters,' Rice said. ''I think if that doesn't convince voters that I should be in, I don't know that anything will. I played the game hard. I played every day. I played hurt. I played the game one way every day and I hope that what I did in the game will be recognized.'(photo from boston.com)

Well it's that time again.  Jim Rice has been on 14 ballots and is still not in the Hall of Fame.  That is a disgrace.  This is the 15th and now is the time. Here's hoping he makes it this year!  We all know he deserves it.

CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING TRAINING!

The buzz is still that we are the front runners for signing Santana.  That would make for a pretty Happy New Year.

Speaking of New Years, I hope you all had a safe one.  We just sat around munching on pickies and watching DVD's of old TV shows.  Not very exciting, but definitely rest-full.

Back to work today after almost 2 weeks off, boy is it tough getting back on track. (Doesn't help that I have my granddaughters head cold.
